Museum of Mechanical Music – Les Gets

The Mechanical Music Museum association

A team of enthusiasts dedicated to preserving heritage

The Mechanical Music Museum of Les Gets is operated and managed by a team of passionate volunteers brought together within theAssociation of Mechanical Music of Les Gets (A.M.M.G.)..

Founded in 1985, the Association has spent more than 40 years preserving and promoting a unique cultural heritage..

Its mission is to safeguard, restore, and keep mechanical music instruments alive..

Our mission

The association pursues an ambitious goal:

To preserve and revive a rare heritage and pass it on to future generations.

As stated in article 2 of the association's statutes, its objectives are:

"To collect, restore and acquire instruments, and to bring them back to life within a museum. To promote and encourage appreciation of mechanical music instruments and their history through conferences, events, exhibitions, publications…”

Thanks to the dedication of its volunteers, the museum now houses one of Europe's finest collections of mechanical music instruments. The oldest wooden carousel in France has been preserved, and a philharmonic organ now stands in the Church of Les Gets.

A collection constantly growing

The association is continually seeking rare, unusual, and historically significant pieces to enrich the museum's collections. Each year, new instruments are added to collections through:
  • des Purchases at auction houses throughout Europe
  • Acquisitions from private collectors and antique dealers
  • des Donations from individuals, mechanical music enthusiasts, and companies

Each new acquisition is carefully restored and returned to workingorder before being presented to visitors, ensuring that the tradition of mechanical music continues to thrive.
